Diane Feissel

Born in Manchester, NH

Lives & works in Philadelphia, PA

 

Diane Feissel is a painter currently living and working in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Diane was raised on Cape Cod, Massachusetts and studied painting at Bryn Mawr College and Haverford College in Pennsylvania. She continued art studies post-graduation through classes at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Fleisher Art Memorial in Philadelphia, and Studio Escalier in France.

Feissel has exhibited work at Haynes Gallery, Principle Gallery, Artists’ House Gallery, Karin Sanders Fine Art, Robert Lange Studios, Dacia Gallery, the Arnot Art Museum, Hang Art, The Los Gatos Art Museum, Studio Gallery, 66balmy, LIMN Gallery, Mina Dresden Gallery, Flanders Art Gallery, Visual Art Exchange, Artspace, The Philadelphia Sketch Club, and the Green Hill Center for North Carolina Art. In 2007 she participated in a two-person exhibition at Galerie Cupillard in Grenoble, France.

Feissel's work has been selected for national juried exhibitions, including the 2005 Georgetown International Fine Arts Competition at Fraser Gallery in Washington, D.C. She was also a finalist in Artist's Magazine's Annual Art Competition in both 2005 and 2006, and a finalist in the 2010 Richeson 75: Figure/Portrait competition. She won an Anna Hyatt Huntington Bronze Medal at the Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club’s 116th Annual Open Exhibition in October 2012.

One of the co-founders of the blog “Women Painting Women,” Diane has participated in “Women Painting Women”-themed exhibitions at Robert Lange Studios in Charleston, South Carolina and Principle Gallery in Charleston and Alexandria, Virginia.

Texas A&M University’s Reynolds Gallery hosted a solo exhibition of Feissel's work in 2016. Her paintings and commissioned portraits hang in private collections throughout the country and abroad.
